Are you insured?

Yes we are, We have £5 million public liability insurance and £10 million employers liability insurance meaning you can have full confidence and peace of mind when hiring R Watson Tree Surgery

A customer must make sure any tree surgeon they employ has qualifications for the task being done to go with the correct tree surgery insurance. An insurance company may refuse to pay out for a claim made against an incident caused by an unqualified tree surgeon. This would mean should a customer employ an unqualified tree surgeon the customer could be liable for the cost and damages.

Can I cut my neighbour's tree / hedge if it overhangs my boundary?

You are legally within your right to cut back to the border anything encroaching your property, however you are obligated to offer to return anything that is removed (mainly logs and fruit) as this is their property and can be considered theft.

We highly recommend you talk it through with your neighbour first both to preserve neighbourly good will and allow for best practice pruning and shaping of the tree rather than an unsightly and damaging flush cuts to the boundary.

A Tree Preservation Order is placed on a tree or group of trees by the local council to prevent removal or any other works being undertaken. To work on protected trees an application must be made to the local council. Tree officers from the council are often strict with granting permission so it is advisable to take advantage of our free application service. Permission can take upto 6 weeks or more to be granted. Flouting a TPO can result in a penalty of £20 000.  For more information on TPO's follow the link.

A Conservation area is a blanket cover of an area protecting land, property, trees etc and affect your trees in the same way as a TPO. These are usually in rural areas of natural beauty. It is also necessary to apply for permission and we would be happy for you to take advantage of our free application service.

What is a TPO and a Conservation Area?

We accept cheque, bank transfer and cash, with 5 working days payment from date of invoice. If customers require more flexible payment terms we are happy to accommodate it upon request.

What are your payment terms?

Do you charge for quotations

Absolutely not, we provide free quotes not estimates  which means the price we quote is the price customers pay. We don’t ask for payment until the customer has inspected and approved the finished work.

Unless otherwise requested, included in your quote, all waste will be removed from your garden, leaving it as tidy as we found it.

What is done with the waste once the tree has been removed.
